Fairest of All by Serena Valentino

The Evil Queen has long been obsessed with beauty. Why? Going back to her childhood, she is told she is ugly and unlovable. She marries the king after his wife dies and adopts Snow White as her own. But the Odd Sisters, the King's cousins who love to cause mischief and mayhem, begin to sow seeds of doubt within the Queen. What once was lovely and a stable relationship, the Queen shuts herself off when the king dies. She blames everything on her servants, tries to hide her new wicked ways, and wrestles with the ultimate question: is she doing the right thing?

I loved the Evil Queen's point of view! The story flowed nicely, was evenly paced, had great action scenes, and the chapters were short enough to keep you reading. The only thing I missed was the lack of detail, such as colors, furniture, and what the morning room looked like. What did it smell like? I wanted to be immersed in Snow White's world but it often felt more like I was watching a movie, which is also good. The five senses are what keep a reader hooked. Without them, it feels....like you're being told what to see instead of experiencing it. Serena Valentino is such an accomplished writer who I highly respect. I love this series and will continue reading it!

For my Christian readers, it is PG for mild swearing.
