New Moon by Stephanie Meyer
Bella Swan has everything. A loving dad, friends, and her angel like boyfriend Edward. When Edward breaks up with her the fairy tale ends until she finds solace with Jacob Black, her childhood friend, that lessens her depression. But Jacob has a secret. Something monstrous brewing beneath the surface. Character development was excellent. Edward had a personality in this one and was funny at times. Though, it still pisses me off he left Bella alone in the forest. And he came

Guardian of Thieves by Lichelle Slater
After the loss of her village and Abudar's capture by the Veil, Caspara is thrown back into action when her beloved dragonling Igborg is taken by Sinbad the pirate. I think this was better than the first one. I loved Igborg and his comments. They made me laugh. I admired Lichelle's research into middle eastern lore and words which helped her create her own spells for the novel. Major respect on that front. Lichelle has a talent for weaving words into cohesive stories. And no

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Book Bella is awesome. My fav part is when she wants to crush Edward's Volvo. She's a lot more human than the movies have depicted her. The pacing is excellent. Although, the chapters do tend to drag out a lot making it a bit boring. But hey, it might just be me. It's definitely not neurodivergent friendly and there were a couple of times when Bella had used the word "mentally handicapped" which I did find insulting but then again this was written in 2005 when we did use phra

Then vs Now: my thoughts on Twilight
When I was in junior high, my cousin told me about this awesome new book that had been published two years before. It was called Twilight . Cool name , I thought. I went to the library to look for a book after finishing R. L. Stine’s Fear Street saga. I picked up a novel with a glossy picture of a red ribbon on it and read the back. It sounded interesting. So, I read it. About two chapters into New Moon , I realized it was a sequel to Twilight . I returned the book and s

Don't Haunt Ghosts by Jeni Conrad
Hanna Sanchez sees ghosts, including her dead grandmother. But when her gift allows her to notice Brandon, a teenage grunge boy from the '90's, he follows her around and becomes her friend. He helps her trap an annoying ghost that has been making History hard to concentrate on. But when her History teacher realizes her gift he becomes obsessively focused on her. As if High School wasn't hard enough. Good hook. Great plot. Well written action scenes and character backstories.
