Frost by Joanna Reeder
Leif is gone. Gemma is dead.
The events of the last book left Camilla in turmoil. So, much so that she changed into an alicorn. But that was just a dream, right? Her ice powers are beginning to emerge and yet she still cannot accept that she is a changer. Her feelings for Evandrus Quinn grow. He, along with Aline Dracul, teaches Camilla to harness her powers. When her jealous mother leaves, she must stay with her father and turn the boarding house into an academy for shifters.
I was blown away by the descriptions. Everything I complained about in the last review seemed to have improved. The scenery was better, and the sounds were amazing. She just needs to work on smells then we're golden. I could relate to Camilla more and more. Especially when her mother left and Camilla had to cope. Whether the author meant to or not, I loved seeing BPD representation. BPD is an abbreviation that stands for Borderline Personality Disorder. It occurs when an individual is abandoned by someone they love which causes a complex and deep fear of it happening again. The individual will then hold on tight to relationships, hoping their friendship, spouse, or partner won't leave. Camilla found that the only way to cope was to run, which I can relate to. When I get so overwhelmed, I will just run to release my pent-up anger, sadness, and confusion. This book hit home for me. I too, have BPD.
