"The King's Affection "

A Korean drama set in the Joseon dynasty.

When a mother gives birth to twins, the King orders the evil grandfather to kill the female infant under the belief that a girl cannot share a womb with the Crown Prince.

However, the Crown Princess puts an acupuncture needle on the baby's neck, making it seem she was a stillborn. Seeing this, the Crown Prince and royal grandfather order the baby to be burned to ashes.

12 years later, the baby girl, now named Dam-I, has returned as a court maid. Her twin brother finds out she has his face and asks her to switch places with him. The last time they do it, however, the Crown Prince goes to say farewell to his tutor, who has been accused of treason. The grandfather finds out Dam-I is still alive and orders his hench man to kill her. Unfortunately, the one to die is the Crown Prince while Dam-I is safely in the palace disguised as her brother.

Dam-I's mother who has discovered the secret orders her daughter that from this moment on Dam-I must be the crown prince otherwise the kingdom will fall.

Ten years later, Dam-I is strong and is now known as the Ice Prince because she acts so cold towards everyone. Her secret becomes endangered when her childhood love becomes her new tutor.

And that's only the first episode! This is a cross between Mulan and Princess Weiyoung. I love the strong character dynamics. Especially about her trying to be strong for everyone. I highly recommend this show. Streaming on Netflix.
